Cobham PLC said in early June that it won $18 million in subcontracts to support an airborne electronic warfare program.
Work will be split among San Diego, San Jose and the Philadelphia suburb of Lansdale, Pa. Cobham runs the former Remec business in Kearny Mesa.
Cobham did not name its customer, saying only that it was a leading defense firm. Under the deal, Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions will supply radio frequency microelectronics as well as antenna assemblies.
“Our microelectronic components and assemblies enable (electronic warfare) system sensitivity while our strong antenna expertise helps the warfighter communicate, maintain situational awareness and stay safe,” said Jill Kale, President of Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions, in a prepared statement.
Cobham has about 800 employees in San Diego, according to a spokesman. The company is based in southern England.
