Illumina Inc. has settled a patent-infringement lawsuit with New York-based Enzo Biochem subsidiary Enzo Life Sciences for $21 million, according to several wire services.

The settlement resolves the sixth of 11 lawsuits brought by Enzo against Illumina, Agilent, Affymetrix, Luminex, and other firms for alleged infringement of U.S. Patent No. 7,064,197 for a "System, Array, and Non-Porous Solid Support Comprising Fixed or Immobilized Nucleic Acids."

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office awarded Enzo the patent in 2006.
