France is buying its second MQ-9 Predator B system from Poway-based General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc., according to a Pentagon contract announcement.

The U.S. Air Force acted as the intermediary in the foreign military sale.

The deal, announced Jan. 19, is an undefinitized contract action with a price not to exceed $43.7 million.

The Predator B is a heftier version of the original Predator.

Work is expected to be complete by October 2017.

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio handled the contract.
