Sempra Energy on Thursday said it had signed a deal with Australia-based Woodside Petroleum Ltd. to advance development of a proposed natural gas liquefaction facility in Port Arthur, Texas.
The project will have a total export capacity of 10 million metric tons per year. Last year, the facility received U.S. Department of Energy approval to export that much liquefied natural gas to all current and future Free Trade Agreement countries. Permission to export to other countries is still pending.
