Betty Ford Center Named In-Network Provider for Scripps

The Betty Ford Center that opened Dec. 13 in Del Mar Heights will be an in-network provider of substance use disorder treatments for the Scripps Health network.

The center’s announcement regarding its network agreement with Scripps was accompanied by word that the new facility will be headed up by addiction treatment professional Brian Couey, who until recently worked at the Betty Ford Center’s West Los Angeles location.

Couey worked from 2006 to 2015 as program manager at Valley Women’s Center, an addiction treatment facility in Canoga Park. He has also served as clinical coordinator at Inter-Agency Drug Abuse Recovery Programs, a North Hollywood rehabilitation center, and was manager at the Center for Living and Learning Inc., an adult learning program based in New York.

He earned a doctorate in clinical psychology at Alliant University’s California School of Professional Psychology. He is a licensed advanced alcohol and drug counselor, a certified addictions treatment counselor and a certified anger management facilitator.

The new center at 11720 El Camino Real #200 is the 17th location established by the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. It offers outpatient substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health services, including a program for teens and young adults, as well as an opioid treatment program.
