Atlanta-based Davidson Hotels & Resorts has been hired to manage the 215-room Cape Rey Carlsbad, an upscale Hilton resort located at 1 Ponto Road.
Financial and other terms were not disclosed for the company’s management agreement with the hotel’s owner-partner, Bill Canepa. A company statement said Davidson and its luxury division oversee management of 43 U.S. hotels totaling nearly 13,000 rooms.
The $80 million Carlsbad resort opened in 2012 and was originally known as Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort & Spa, before a rebranding announced in April 2015. The resort was developed by Wave Crest Oceanfront LLC of Encinitas, led by Canepa.
The property, located near Carlsbad State Beach, has 27,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space, with on-site amenities including Ocean Crest Spa and Chandler’s Restaurant & Lounge.
