Qualcomm Inc. announced a new 3G and 4G Chinese patent license agreement with Zhuhai Ewpe Information Technology Inc. (EWPE).
EWPE is a subsidiary of Gree Electric Appliances Inc. According to a release from Qualcomm Inc., the terms of the agreement grant EWPE a royalty-bearing license to develop, manufacture and sell 3G WCDMA, CDMA2000 and 4G LTE subscriber units for use in China. These royalties are consistent with the terms submitted by Qualcomm to China’s National Development and Reform Commission.
“We look forward to bringing new choices in 3G/4G devices for Chinese consumers,” said Dong Mingzhu, chairman and president of Zhuhai Gree Electric Appliances, Inc., in the release. “This license from Qualcomm will support us in bringing new and exciting devices that have the power, functionality and connectivity in demand today.”
EWPE, founded in 1991, is an international electrical appliances company that maintains integrated R&D, manufacturing, marketing and service. Their range of products include residential and central air conditioners, air source water heaters, mobile phones, home appliances, refrigerators and other products.
