Northrop Grumman Awarded $30.3M Air Force Deal

The U.S. Air Force awarded Northrop Grumman Corp. a $30.3 million modification to a previously awarded contract for Lot 11 production of its Global Hawk aircraft.

Under the deal, Northrop Grumman will retrofit eight of the high-altitude, unmanned aircraft from aircraft whose sole sensors are imagery sensor packages (called Block 30 I) to aircraft equipped with both imagery and signals-intelligence sensor packages (called Block 30 M).

“Because the 30M carries a more capable sensor suite, they are in much higher demand operationally,” an Air Force spokesman said by email.

Work will be done in San Diego and is expected to be complete by the end of 2017.

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio awarded the contract, announced March 25.
