New executive management appointments were recently announced at hotels in San Diego, Carlsbad and Coronado.
At Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel, manager Dave Smith has been promoted to the position of general manager, overseeing all day-to-day operations at the 1,190-room downtown property. Smith has been with operator Hilton Worldwide since 1987, holding prior executive positions at large Hilton properties in Las Vegas, New Orleans, Cancun and Miami.
In Carlsbad, Rob Stirling is the new director of sales and marketing at the 215-room Cape Rey Carlsbad, formerly known as Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort & Spa. Operators said the 30-year industry veteran, with stints at properties including W San Diego and Grand Del Mar Resort, will oversee sales, marketing, catering and conference services, with a focus on strengthening group sales.
In Coronado, Dean Griffin has been named hotel manager at the 439-room Loews Coronado Bay Resort, overseeing food and beverage operations. He has 16 years of industry experience, most recently serving as director of operations at The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe, after prior work at properties including the Arizona Biltmore and Ritz-Carlton in Phoenix.
