Marathon Construction Corp. of Lakeside and R.E. Staite Engineering Inc. of San Diego were among five contractors receiving up to five years of U.S. Navy construction work, primarily on the West Coast.

The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity, multiple-award contracts call for new construction, repair and renovation of various waterfront facilities overseen by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest, or NAVFAC.

Those companies receiving awards will now compete for task orders. The U.S. Navy will issue up to $240 million worth of work over five years, the Pentagon announced on Oct. 21.
