Video game headset maker Turtle Beach Corp. said it had partnered with Chinese manufacturing powerhouse Foxconn Technology Group, formally known as Hon Hai Precision Industry Ltd.

Though the arrangement between San Diego-based Turtle Beach and Foxconn began late last year, it is now “fully up-and-running,” according to Turtle. Foxconn is making Turtle Beach’s gaming headsets and directed speaker system for people with hearing loss out of its facilities in China and Mexico. The hearing loss speakers, called HyperSound Clear, are set to debut later this year.

"This is a substantial step in our operational transformation, designed to increase agility, visibility and consistency at the front end of our supply chain network," said Robert Andris, Turtle Beach’s senior vice president of global supply chain operations.

The HyperSound technology was developed by Poway-based Parametric Sound Corp., which was acquired by a Turtle Beach affiliate in a reverse merger last year.
