InterDigital Inc., the mobile technology research and development company, has agreed to be a strategic funding partner for the EvoNexus pro bono business incubator. The two organizations announced the partnership on June 3.

InterDigital (Nasdaq: IDCC) joins three other strategic funding partners: Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO), Qualcomm Inc. (Nasdaq: QCOM) and ViaSat Inc. (Nasdaq: VSAT).

EvoNexus’ newest partner, InterDigital, has its home office in Delaware and offices in several cities, including San Diego. It has a portfolio of 20,500 patents and patent applications, covering 2G, 3G and 4G networks as well as several versions of Wi-Fi. The business reported $415.8 million in revenue last year.

EvoNexus has locations in downtown San Diego, the University Towne Center area and Irvine. Young companies do not surrender equity to take part in EvoNexus’ incubator program.
