Downtown office property owner Emmes Realty Services has installed and opened 30 electric vehicle charging stations in its public parking garage at 707 Broadway, which the company says is the largest concentration of publicly available chargers in San Diego.
Officials did not disclose costs for the station installations. The company is offering free parking and charging at the Broadway location for electric vehicles through Aug. 31.
“With electric vehicles becoming more popular, we believe it is important to embrace this technology now,” said Emmes Vice President Jordan Johnson, in a statement.
Emmes officials said charging station availability and reservations are accessible via the ChargePoint app, which can be downloaded on any smartphone. Charging times are generally expected to be approximately two hours.
Emmes and its affiliates currently own and operate four high-rise office buildings in downtown San Diego, totaling approximately 1.45 million square feet. The properties are 1 Columbia Place, 2 Columbia Place, 701 B Street and 707 Broadway.
Emmes Realty Services is part of New York-based Emmes Group of Cos.
