ViaSat Inc. announced on July 7 that Virgin America Inc. will put ViaSat’s in-flight Wi-Fi technology aboard its next 10 aircraft.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Virgin America (Nasdaq: VA) will take delivery of 10 Airbus A320 aircraft with the ViaSat technology beginning in September.
Carlsbad-based ViaSat (Nasdaq: VSAT) says its Exede in the Air service offers Wi-Fi service that is up to 10 times faster than competing technologies, and similar to what travelers may see in their homes. Passengers will be able to see streaming video from the Internet, ViaSat said.
