Several San Diego County hotels recently took national honors in annual rankings and designations by prominent hospitality and travel-related organizations.

The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla retained its AAA Five Diamond designation for the 13th consecutive year, and The Grand Del Mar in Carmel Valley retained Five Diamond status for the seventh year in a row.

Also listed as Five Diamond this year were Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa in Rancho Santa Fe, and Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad.

Operators said Rancho Valencia also recently topped a national “Best Hotel” ranking by U.S. News & World Report, based on expert and guest reviews.

The Lodge was also recently voted among the world’s 500 best hotels by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine. The Grand Del Mar placed second among luxury hotels and fourth among hotels overall in the annual Travelers’ Choice Awards, decided by users of the travel review site TripAdvisor.

Also in the TripAdvisor awards, Carlsbad’s West Inn & Suites ranked at No. 12 nationally in the category of best family hotels.
