Precision Measurement Engineering, Inc., an internationally known oceanographic and freshwater instrument design corporation, announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Kristin M. Elliott as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Elliott, 32, succeeds her father, Michael Head, 64, who has stepped down as chief executive officer as part of a transition plan.

Head, who ran the Vista-based company for 32 years, had previously announced his plans to withdraw from top management and pursue other interests, such as focusing on new product design and engineering for the company. He will act in an advisory role and Chairman of the Board, remaining with the company through the next few years.

Elliott has worked for PME for over 15 years. She obtained her master's degree in business administration from California State University, San Marcos three years ago. She has marketing, new business, strategic management and operation experience.

“Leadership succession is an important step that PME must take in order to ensure the longevity of the company," Head said. "We feel that Kristin has the motivation, attitude and perseverance to guide the company to new growth levels and goals.”
