Pasadena-based Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza, a fast-casual restaurant chain that makes custom-made pies baked in high-temperature ovens, plans two San Diego County openings in October, bringing its total to three locations in the region.

Company officials said openings are planned at 127 N. El Camino Real in Encinitas, in the Encinitas Village Center; and at 5604 Balboa Ave. in San Diego’s Genessee Plaza.

Blaze opened in December 2013 at Carlsbad Premium Outlets. Officials said the new local restaurants will offer a selection of wine and craft beer and offer online ordering.

Blaze opened its first restaurant in Irvine in 2012 and currently operates franchised restaurants in 11 states and the District of Columbia. The company said its pizzas are served up approximately 3 minutes after ordering.

The company was founded by Wetzel’s Pretzels co-founder Rick Wetzel and his wife Elise, and is backed by investors including LeBron James, Maria Shriver, movie producer John Davis and Boston Red Sox co-owner Tom Werner.

A company spokesman said the newest San Diego area restaurants will be owned and operated by Jeff Baker, a local franchisee with a portfolio of more than 30 restaurants, including several under the Yum! Brands umbrella.
