Petco Park will host two events featuring top professional sporting clubs from Mexico this summer.

On July 12 in an event dubbed the San Diego Clasico, the ballpark will be converted to a soccer pitch for a doubleheader. In the first match starting at 5 p.m., Club America faces Dorados de Sinaloa. In the second contest, it will be the Xolos de Tijuana vs. Cruz Azul.

There have been three other soccer games played at Petco, and last year’s Clasico drew nearly 29,000 fans.

On August 3, the ballpark will revert to its own dimensions and host a baseball game between Tijuana Toros and the Mexico City Diablos Rojos. The game will start about 30 minutes after the conclusion of a Padres game against the Atlanta Braves that begins at 1:10 p.m. The later game is included in the Padres ticket price.

This will be the second time that Petco hosts a regular season game between teams from the Mexican Baseball League, with the first being in 2006.
