By Brad Graves Tuesday, March 18, 2014

The U.S. Navy awarded General Dynamics Nassco a $62.6 million deal to put the USS Pearl Harbor into dry dock for maintenance and alterations, the company said Tuesday.

The Pearl Harbor is a Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ship capable of carrying up to 500 Marines. It also carries air-cushion landing craft in its well deck.

The deal, which is a modification to a previously awarded contract, runs through July 2015. The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center awarded the work.
