It’s official: Websense is moving its headquarters to Austin, Texas. The Austin Chamber of Commerce announced the move Feb. 28.

The Web security company apparently found incentives of $4.5 million from the Texas Enterprise Fund and $438,000 from the City of Austin too good to pass up. Websense says it "anticipates" a continued presence in San Diego.

Websense also now has an Austin-based parent, Vista Equity Partners, which bought the Sorrento Valley-based business in June for $906 million.

“Establishing Austin as our headquarters will heighten our security industry leadership position and enable us to better serve our growing global customer base,” said John McCormack, CEO of Websense, in a statement distributed to the media. “The city is quickly becoming a technology hub with an invigorating quality of life and multitiered workforce that fits well into our future plans.”

The Austin chamber said Websense will bring 470 jobs and $9.94 million in capital investment to the Texas city.
