Red Cross Chapter Names Earley as CEO

The American Red Cross San Diego / Imperial Counties Chapter named William Earley as regional chief executive officer.

Earley will fill the vacant position on July 14.

“It’s an honor to join one of the most trusted community service organizations in education, preparation and response to natural disasters and human emergencies,” Earley said.

Prior to joining the Red Cross, Earley spent more than 24 years at McKenna Long & Aldridge before resigning as a partner to become president of the San Diego State University Alumni Association. He also established his own law and management consulting firm, The Earley Group, while pursuing other local projects. Earley’s background and interests include experience as a sportscaster, political aide and legal extern in the U.S. Senate, basketball player in Germany, Ironman triathlete and businessperson, according to the Red Cross.

“Bill Earley is a remarkable leader who knows and loves the community. His passion will elevate and enable the organization to continue to do what it does best,” said Stan Hartman, who will take over as board chairman on July 1.

Earley’s past and present involvement in the community includes The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, SDSU Campanile Foundation, San Diego Rotary (Club 33), San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and LEAD San Diego, according to the Red Cross

Former CEO Tony Young left the organization for unexplained reasons last spring.
