Correlation Ventures, a San Diego venture capital firm that invests only with other venture firms and has deployed $166 million, said it added eight new portfolio companies during the second quarter of this year, bringing the total number of companies it’s funded to 88.
The eight new companies represent stages from seed rounds through late stage financings, and sectors, including biotech, database software, medical devices, social media and business services, the venture firm said.
Co-investors include Avalon Ventures, Emergence Capital, First Round Capital, Frazier Healthcare, InterWest Partners, Lerer Ventures, Mohr Davidow Ventures, RRE Ventures, SoftTech VC, and Venrock.
One of the firm’s investments, InstaEDU, a provider of online tutoring services, was acquired by Chegg. Correlation invested in it last year along with Battery Ventures and existing investors, the firm said.
