Shed Some 'Paper Weight' at Document Shredding Event

By Mike Allen Wednesday, July 23, 2014

Folks who get off on breaking records certified by Guinness may want to attend what’s billed as a Super Shred Event sponsored by San Diego County Credit Union.

The area’s largest credit union said the public is invited to take an unlimited amount of their unwanted documents to be shred for free to Qualcomm Stadium this Saturday, July 26 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The trucks will be in the northwest parking lot.

Paper docs should be removed from binders before shredding, but staples and paper clips are permitted, said organizers.

Last July, SDCCU held a Super Shred Event that shred 168,147 pounds of paper, which set the record for the most pounds collected in 24 hours. During that event 40 trucks were used.

And as an extra incentive, the credit union is offering to take electronic waste off your hands through LinkServe E-Waste.
