Local Tribe to Offer Wagering on Online PokerThursday, July 17, 2014
A business run by a San Diego County American Indian tribe has begun hosting poker games on the Internet.
Santa Ysabel Interactive began offering free-play poker on July 14 at the site PrivateTable.com, said David Vialpando, gaming commission chairman with the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel.
The enterprise plans to offer real-money wagering in a week or two, Vialpando said. Players must be California residents 18 years of age or older, and must be physically within the state to play.
The Santa Ysabal tribe had a brick-and-mortar casino near Julian, which closed early this year.
Vialpando said the online poker project has been two years in the making.
