San Diego-based Omnitracs LLC, a provider of fleet management solutions to transportation and logistics companies, appointed Dan Speicher as chief technology officer, the company announced.

Speicher comes to Omnitracs from Hughes Telematics, where he led teams that developed telematics solutions for Fortune 500 customers. Following Verizon Communications Inc.’s purchase of HTI, he led the organization’s corporate integration initiatives. Previously, he spent 20 years with InfoGroup, a multinational list data and marketing services provider, where as chief technology officer he oversaw mergers and acquisitions and the development of a shared services infrastructure, according to Omnitracs.

“Dan brings extensive technology expertise and extraordinary leadership skills to Omnitracs,” said John Graham, CEO of Omnitracs. “His technical vision and strategic direction will be essential.”

Omnitracs is owned by Vista Equity Partners, which finalized its purchase of the company from Qualcomm in November 2013.

Omnitracs recently announced the appointment of David Post as president and chief operating officer of the company.

According to the company, Omnitracs serves more than 2,500 private and for-hire fleet customers and 270,000 vehicles throughout North America and Latin America.
