Make-A-Wish’s Telethon Has High Hopes for Your Frequent Flier Miles: Donate Today

Thursday, January 23, 2014

Make-A-Wish San Diego is hosting its 3rd annual "Wishes In Flight" telethon to collect donations of frequent flier miles on Friday, Jan. 24, at NBC 7 San Diego’s studios from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sponsored by North Island Credit Union, this event hopes to raise more than 5 million airline miles. Donations can be made during the telethon by visiting: http://www.nbcsandiego.com/contact-us/community/Wishes-in-Flight-Mile-A-Thon-TODAY-on-NBC-7-241749111.html

Nearly 70 percent of all wishes granted by Make-A-Wish San Diego last year included air travel for families to reach their wish destinations. Travelers with airline miles can be part of a life-affirming wish with a donation of air miles with airline partners Delta, US Airways, Continental and United.

Miles also can be donated throughout the year via the Make-A-Wish San Diego website at: http://sandiego.wish.org/ways-to-help/giving/airline-miles. The miles never expire once they’re in the foundation’s account.

The mission of Make-A-Wish is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Since its inception in 1983, Make-A-Wish San Diego has granted more than 3,200 wishes for children in San Diego and Imperial Counties.
