The value of San Diego County’s contracts for future construction rose 20 percent from a year ago in the first 10 months of 2014, topping $3.4 billion, according to the latest data from McGraw Hill Construction.
The region saw $2.5 billion worth of nonresidential contracts awarded in the January-to-October period, up 79 percent from the same year-ago period. Residential contracts declined 37 percent, to $910.9 million.
Nonresidential projects include education, healthcare, hotel, retail, office and other commercial buildings. The residential category includes single-family and multifamily housing.
