San Diego State University has named an academic from Illinois to be the dean of its business school.

J. Dennis Cradit will become dean of the university’s College of Business Administration on July 1. Cradit has been dean of the college of business at Southern Illinois University since 2006.

Cradit, a native of Texas, has a doctorate in cognitive and social psychology from the University of Iowa. He was chair of the marketing department at Florida State University for six years before joining Southern Illinois University.

His research focuses on marketing segmentation, quantitative methods and business-to-business marketing, according to the Southern Illinois University website.

He also serves on the governor of Illinois’ council of economic advisers.
