JMI Realty, led by former San Diego Padres owner John Moores, has completed a $12 million renovation of The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, the historic hotel property that it purchased last year.

The property, now with 80 guest rooms, has a new 3,000-square-foot spa and a new concept restaurant, Morada, with a farm-to-table menu featuring locally sourced seasonal cuisine. Guestrooms and cottages have been redesigned to evoke the property’s early ties to Hollywood, amid lush gardens and landscaping.

Operators have also upgraded the property’s public areas, meeting facilities, outdoor function spaces and private dining rooms. The hotel has remained open during the renovation, which began in January.

Finishing touches on the lobby will be completed over the next three weeks, and operators plan additional capital improvements in 2014, a hotel spokeswoman said.

Austin-based JMI Realty, which has regional operations in San Diego, acquired the 21-acre property in April 2012 for $28 million, according to CoStar Group and public data. The seller was Huntington Hotel Co. of Rancho Santa Fe.

The Spanish-style hotel, at 5951 Linea Del Cielo in the unincorporated village of Rancho Santa Fe, was built in 1924 and has hosted presidents, royalty and Hollywood stars, according to hotel operators.
