San Diego placed fifth in the nation for meeting and event bookings, in an annual ranking by Virginia-based event management technology provider Cvent Inc.
The company ranks the top 50 cities based on event booking activity through its Cvent Supplier Network platform. San Diego this year moved up from sixth place in last year’s ranking.
Topping the 2013 list were Orlando, Chicago, Las Vegas and Atlanta. After San Diego, the top 10 was rounded out by New York City, Washington, D.C., Dallas, Miami and Phoenix.
The company evaluated nearly 5,700 U.S. cities featured on its national supplier network. Activity tracked between July 2012 and June 2013 included unique requests for proposals, total room nights awarded, and the percentage of meeting venues fitting event planners’ criteria.
Cvent (NYSE: CVT) has its headquarters in McLean, Va. The company’s cloud-based enterprise event management platform is used by corporate event planners and others in the meetings industry for registration, venue selection, event management and related operations.
