3D Robotics Inc., which sells hardware and software for small unmanned aircraft, recently announced it received $30 million in series B financing.
Foundry Group, a new investor, led the financing with previous investor True Ventures. Also participating were existing investors O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures and SK Ventures.
The company has its engineering office in San Diego and its manufacturing facility in Tijuana. Its business and sales office is in Berkeley. Chris Anderson, former editor in chief of Wired Magazine, is CEO.
3D Robotics said that as part of its funding, it will expand its development and deployment of advanced unmanned aircraft applications, with a focus on agricultural crop mapping and other commercial aerial survey technology.
