Walmart Stores Inc. is scheduled to launch a hiring program focused on military veterans on May 27, in which it plans to hire more than 100,000 veterans nationwide over the next five years.
The Arkansas-based retailer kicked off the program with a recent public event at College Grove Shopping Center in San Diego.
A Walmart statement said the company will offer a job to any honorably discharged veteran within his or her first 12 months off active duty, through its Veterans Welcome Home program. More information is at walmartcareerswithamission.com.
The retailer’s charitable Walmart Foundation has committed $20 million through 2015 to help veterans and their families transition from the military into the civilian workforce, through programs that provide job training, education and related services, the statement said.
