Jack in the Box Plays Charity Golf for Big Brothers Big Sisters

The Jack in the Box Foundation donated $325,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters. The funds were raised at 23rd annual Jack in the Box Charity Golf Tournament held in April. More than 350 Jack in the Box employees and vendors attended the tournament held at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa. “A significant portion of our donation helps Big Brothers Big Sisters provide mentors to children from military families with deployable parents,” said Brian Luscomb, president of The Jack in the Box Foundation. “This is a program we’re especially proud to support. The funds will be used to benefit Casa De Amparo’s programs that support abused and neglected children in San Diego. The funds will be used to pay for Target Free Second Sundays at the Museum. The study focuses on the impact of music training on the brain and behavioral development in children. SIMPHONY is short for Studying the Impact Music Practice Has On Neurodevelopment in Youth. The study is a collaboration between UC San Diego’s Center for Human Development and the Institute for Neural Computation … Girl Scouts San Diego held the 13th Annual San Diego’s 10 Cool Women event at the Del Mar Country Club. The event raised $27,000 and the funds will be used to keep Girl Scouting available and affordable to local girls. San Diego’s 10 Cool Women of 2013 are Kathryn Ashworth, Joye Blount, Pauline Foster, Arlene Harris, Dolores Huerta, Lee Ann Kim, Rosibel Mancillas Lopez, Cindy Marten, Zandra Rhodes and Ellen Whelan. Snigdha Nandipati was named the 2013 Cool Girl of the Year … The Helen Woodward Animal Center will host the 25th Annual Spring Fling Gala June 1 at Fairbanks Village Plaza in Rancho Santa Fe. The event will feature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction.
