Summa Education, an SAT test preparation business based in Carmel Valley, recently opened a second office in Rancho Bernardo to handle its expanded business.
In addition to the new 5,175-square-foot office, Summa says it hired its 12th full time employee to go along with its 30 part-time workers. In the past year it added seven full-time workers and about a dozen part-time workers, said Chris Hamilton, Summa’s founder and chief executive officer.
Over the first year, Hamilton said he’s thrilled with the results. “None of us could have imagined that our first year would result in 20 perfect SAT scores, and hundreds of students who have improved their initial scores by leaps and bounds,” he said.
So far this year, Summa students have been admitted to Harvard, Yale Princeton, Stanford, MIT, CalTech, Columbia, Brown Medical, UCSD Medical Scholars program, Dartmouth, Cornell, UC Berkeley, UCLA and many other top institutions, the company said.
Summa programs are offered to students in grades five through 12, and charge a basic fee of $920, the company said.
