San Diego-based Harvest Meat Company Inc., a national distributor of meat-based products, has acquired certain assets from Vernon-based Randall Foods Inc. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are continuing to invest in the growth of our business,” said Harvest CEO Jay Leavy in a statement. “We are branching out and building additional scale around the same fundamental principles that have guided our company for more than 20 years.”

The privately held company, founded in 1989, delivers packaged meat products to about 4,000 retailers in eight states, many of which are in Southern California.

Randall Farms processes and distributes poultry, pork and beef products, and is handing over the bulk distribution reins to Harvest Meat in order to focus on its processing operation, Randall Farms CEO Stan Bloom said in a statement.

As part of the acquisition, Harvest Meat will take over Randall’s distribution center in Los Angeles.
