Friday, March 1, 2013

The Grand Del Mar resort in Carmel Valley has received three Five-Star awards in the latest Forbes Travel Guide. The 5-year-old property was the only one in San Diego County and one of just six nationwide to receive the highest award in three categories for 2013.

According to a statement from the hotel, The Grand Del Mar garnered Five-Star status for lodging, and also for its spa and on-site signature restaurant, Addison.

The other U.S. properties receiving three Five-Star ratings were Montage Laguna Beach, The Broadmoor in Colorado, The Cloister in Georgia, and locations of Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas and Miami.

This was the second year that The Grand Del Mar attained five stars for lodging, the third year for The Spa, and the fifth for Addison. The 249-room resort also recently retained its AAA Five Diamond rating for the fourth consecutive year.

Formerly known as Mobil Travel Guide, the latest Forbes Travel Guide lists 58 hotels, 23 spas and 28 restaurants in the U.S. with Five-Star ratings.

According to the Forbes Travel Guide website, The Lodge at Torrey Pines received Four Star ratings in the lodging, spa and restaurant categories, the latter for its A.R. Valentien; and the U.S. Grant Hotel received Four Stars in the lodging category.
