A new 118-suite Residence Inn by Marriott is scheduled to open by the end of June in Carmel Valley, next-door to an existing Marriott hotel.

A statement from Marriott International Inc. said the extended-stay, all-suite hotel is located at 3525 Valley Centre Drive, off El Camino Real, and will be officially known as Residence Inn San Diego Del Mar. The hotel is owned by Carmel Valley Residence Hotel LLC and will be managed by Marriott International.

The hotel will offer a complimentary hot breakfast and a reception three nights a week. Suites in the Residence Inn format are 50 percent larger than an average hotel room, the statement said.

The San Diego location will have sustainable features including energy-conserving appliances, LED lighting, three electric vehicle charging stations, and the use of recycled materials.

The hotel will feature modern art, contemporary sculptures, custom photography and original oil paintings, with a custom gallery in the lobby designed by artist Jerome Gastaldi.

Outside the hotel entrance, guests will see two abstract sculptures, a figurative bronze horse, and a “whimsical kite piece,” the statement said.
