Cubic Corp., the San Diego defense contractor and maker of automated mass transit fare systems, named William W. Boyle, 78, as its new chief executive officer.
Boyle, the former executive vice president and chief financial officer for Cubic, had been serving as interim president and CEO since the death of Cubic’s founder and CEO Walter J. Zable in June.
Boyle joined Cubic in 1983 as CFO.
Cubic’s board of directors also appointed Bradley H. Feldmann to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer. It also promoted John “Jay” Thomas to the position of executive vice president and chief financial officer.
The board also named Stephen O. Shewmaker president of Cubic’s Transportation Systems segment, and the additional role of executive vice president of the corporation.
Walter C. Zable, executive vice president of the corporation and son of the founder, said maintaining the continuity of the management team and preserving the culture of Cubic was carefully considered in making the executive changes.
“We reviewed a variety of alternatives and are pleased with the results,” Zable said.
