Holiday and Poinsettia Bowl Matchups Set; SDSU Bowl-bound

The 2013 National University Holiday Bowl is the first with the San Diego-based nonprofit university as the game's title sponsor.

The four teams are set for San Diego’s two college football bowl games at Qualcomm Stadium this month.

In the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, Northern Illinois from the Mid-American Conference will play Utah State from the Mountain West Conference at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 26.

The Utah State Aggies finished with a record of 8-5, while the Northern Illinois Huskies come in with a record of 12-1.

In the National University Holiday Bowl, Arizona State from the Pac-12 Conference will face Texas Tech from the Big 12 Conference at 7:15 p.m. Dec. 30.

The Arizona State Sun Devils finished the season with a record of 10-3, while the Texas Tech Red Raiders have a 7-5 record. This is National University’s first year as the Holiday Bowl’s title sponsor.

Both games will be televised on ESPN.

In other bowl news, San Diego State University accepted an invitation to play in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl held Dec. 21 in Boise, Idaho. The Aztecs, who finished the season at 7-5, will play Buffalo from the Mid-American Conference, which finished at 8-4.
