The U.S. Navy recently awarded San Diego-based Helix Electric Inc. a $24.8 million contract to replace the electrical system for a dry dock at Virginia’s Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

Helix beat out six other contractors who bid on the work, which will last two years.

An option on the firm fixed-price contract would increase the value of the contract slightly, to almost $25 million.

The Naval Facilities Engineering Command Mid-Atlantic in Norfolk awarded the deal.
