The Warrior Foundation, a charitable project that benefits military families, is now in new hands.
The Navy League’s San Diego council recently handed off the Warrior Foundation — as well as $1.6 million in donations to the organization — to Freedom Station, a San Diego-based nonprofit organization.
The Warrior Foundation has helped hundreds of injured servicemen and women and their families by offering travel, transitional housing, clothing and other forms of assistance not provided by federal or state veteran’s service organizations.
The local Navy League council started the Warrior Foundation in 2004.
