Dempsey Construction Acquires Legacy Building Services

San Diego-based general contractor Dempsey Construction Inc. has acquired Legacy Building Services Inc., another general contracting firm with local headquarters.

Financial terms were not disclosed in a statement from the privately held Dempsey Construction. Officials said the combined operations will serve industry sectors including commercial development, biotech, multifamily, retail, education, theme parks and health care.

Dempsey Construction was founded in 2010 by its president and CEO, John Dempsey, who previously served as president of locally based Lusardi Construction. Dempsey’s current firm has completed commercial and renovation projects throughout California, Arizona and several other markets, for clients including California Stem Cell Inc., California Center for Sustainable Energy and Country Montessori School.

Legacy, started in 2003, has completed projects at several local educational facilities, as well as at locations such as Liberty Station, San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld San Diego. Its work includes several LEED-certified projects.

Legacy Building Services will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Dempsey Construction, employing approximately 30.
