For the second time, Scripps Health has been named among the 15 top health systems in the country by research firm Truven Health Analytics.
More than 300 health systems across the country were assessed to identify the top 15. They were broken into three categories by revenue. Scripps is the only California health system to be recognized in the “large” systems category, meaning it has more than $1.5 billion in operating expenses.
The hospitals were measured across 12 performance metrics, including mortality and complications incidence, patient safety, and operating profit margin.
"Being recognized as one of the nation's top 15 health systems — and especially as one of the top five large systems — by one of the world's leading independent rating organizations is a true honor and a testament to the exceptional care provided by our physicians and staff," said Chris Van Gorder, president and CEO of Scripps. "This distinction further demonstrates the Scripps' commitment to consistently provide safe, high quality and compassionate care to all of our patients."
