Downtown Courtyard Hotel Completes $5.8M Renovation

The Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Downtown hotel has completed a $5.8 million renovation of its public spaces, meeting rooms and guestrooms. A statement said the Gaslamp Quarter property now has a new area called The Lobby, with new spaces for dining, working and relaxing.

The 230-room hotel, at 530 Broadway near Sixth Avenue, is owned by affiliates of Wheelock Street Capital LLC and managed by Sage Hospitality.

The property is housed in the historic San Diego Trust and Savings Bank building, dating back to 1928, and elements of the original building were preserved during the renovation. The Lobby serves meals throughout the day, and there is a redesigned bar with draft and bottled beers, as well as a Starbucks Espresso Bar.

Guest rooms now have new bedding, furniture, carpeting and wall coverings, and more than 300 pieces of local San Diego artwork are featured throughout the hotel. Meeting spaces feature new furnishings and technology.
