Bill VanDeWeghe has joined the board of directors at Rancho Bernardo-based LRAD Corp.
LRAD produces long-range acoustic hailing devices used by militaries and law enforcement. The company’s technology produces a highly amplified and narrowly directed sound.
VanDeWeghe, 51, is a managing director at RA Capital Advisors, where he leads the defense industry team. He deals in mergers and acquisitions as well as the financing of such. In addition, VanDeWeghe is a strategic adviser and independent consultant to the law firm of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP.
VanDeWeghe will join the compensation committee of the LRAD board.
With his board membership, VanDeWeghe will receive options to purchase up to 50,000 shares of LRAD stock at the stock’s Aug. 20 price of $1.22, becoming fully vested in the plan after four years.
LRAD stock trades on the Nasdaq under the symbol LRAD. Tom Brown is the company’s president and CEO.
