San Diego County Credit Union, the area’s largest credit union with $5.4 billion in assets, said March 21 that it is offering a full range of mobile banking services, including remote deposit capture using camera-equipped smartphones from Fiserv Inc.

The credit union said its members can now access their accounts through the choice of text messaging, mobile browser and downloadable applications for the iPhone, BlackBerry or Android phones. Features include checking balances, locating ATMs, receiving alerts, paying bills and transferring funds.

Last month, California Coast Credit Union said since the San Diego-based institution began offering its mobile banking service about six months ago, some 11,000 members, or nearly 10 percent, have used it.

In addition to giving members the ability to check balances, view transaction histories and transfer funds, the new mobile application provides the ability to pay bills online, track spending habits, locate a branch or ATM, and access the credit union’s website.
