Wal-Mart Stores Inc. plans a June 13 opening for its previously announced Walmart store in Encinitas.

A June 6 statement from the Arkansas-based retailer said the store at 1550 Leucadia Blvd. will open at 8 a.m., following a 7 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony. The store, in a building that previously housed a Home Expo store, will employ approximately 250.

The 92,024-square-foot store has a full line of groceries, including a bakery, deli, meat and dairy products, and fresh produce. The statement said there are more than 30 general merchandise departments, and the location has a revised design recently deployed by the company to make its large-format stores easier to navigate.

The Encinitas Walmart includes energy-efficient technology, including LED lighting that operates 70 percent more efficiently than traditional fluorescent lighting, the company said.
