Municipal bond underwriter Siebert Brandford Shank and Co. LLC is expanding locally to keep pace with growing Western markets.
SBSCO recently opened its San Diego office at 3990 Old Town Ave. The office becomes the firm’s 20th location nationwide and fourth in California where the company already has a presence in Los Angeles, Sacramento and Oakland. The firm is dually headquartered in Oakland and New York City.
Initially staffed by three employees, the Old Town office will be directed by Senior Vice President Lisa Marie Harris, who previously served as the chief deputy treasurer at the County of San Diego and on the board of directors of the Government Finance Officers Association. Also joining the staff of 71 total employees is Brian Corley, a managing director and head of the Los Angeles office, who had previously been a managing director with JP Morgan; and Anand Kesavan, a senior vice president in the Oakland headquarters who was previously a vice president with UBS.
“The opening of the San Diego office is another step in our firm’s expansion into the growing markets west of the Mississippi,” said SBSCO Chairman Napoleon Brandford III. “The firm is undergoing a transformation and is poised for tremendous growth.”
The most recent SBSCO office that opened was in Sacramento in 2010.
In 2011, SBSCO says it served as a managing underwriter for municipal bonds exceeding $54 billion in aggregate par amount of which it was senior manager on 31 transactions ($5.8 billion) and co-senior manager on 21 transactions ($7.4 billion). The firm has provided municipal underwriting and financial advisory services to state and local governments across the nation for the funding of education, housing, health services, transportation, utilities, capital facilities, redevelopment and general infrastructure since 1996.
