Cubic Transportation Systems, a business segment of San Diego’s Cubic Corp., said it received a $9 million extension on an existing contract it has with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Agency for a smart card fare collection system, branded as TAP.
The TAP system for the LA Metro is built on the Nextfare hardware and software platform for managing fare collection and operational data. The company’s contract includes corrective and preventative maintenance of all rail equipment encompassing gate equipment, rail validators, ticket vending machines, office ticketing machines, garage computers, mobile phone validators, and other equipment that enables the system to be used by participating agencies in Los Angeles County, the company said.
