Callaway Set to Debut Its New-Tech Golf Balls in March

Thursday, February 9, 2012

Callaway Golf Co. on March 2 plans to begin marketing a new golf ball, known as Hex Black Tour, that it says is designed to enhance “spin separation” and improve game performance. The retail price is expected to be $45.99 per dozen.

A Feb. 2 statement by the Carlsbad-based sporting goods maker said the 1.62-ounce ball uses innovative dual-core construction, based on new and proprietary technologies. It is the result of several years of research and development.

The ball is assembled from five component pieces, and Callaway says the ball’s surface is designed to improve its aerodynamics following contact with the club, reducing drag and promoting a stable ball flight in all playing conditions.
